Child survivors of last week's terror attack on a Russian school are to be airlifted to Israel for treatment at facilities specializing in such care.

The children and their mothers will be flown here by the Michael Cherney Fund, which was created after the Dolphinarium suicide bomb attack in Tel Aviv, which killed 20 teenagers and wounded over 100 in 2001. The Fund also helped the victims of a May 2002 bombing in south Russia, where 10 children were killed and many more wounded.

Some background information from www.newsinfo.ru

Since the beginning of the Second Chechen War (since 1999):

- there have been 36 terrorists acts in Russia, which resulted in 1,397 dead and 1750 injured.

- Russian military casualties: 4,500 dead, 15,000 wounded (those are official numbers, non official 11,000 dead, 25,000 wounded)

- 3,500 children died in Chechnya, 2,500 missing civilians (non officla number of dead 20,000). Official number of rebels killed: 15,000.

The graph above represents russian casualties of terrorism (dead and wounded) from 1999 to 2004.

******

Basayev's mouthpiece, kavkazcenter.com/russ ,just receieved a statement from the "Anti-terrorist Center of Chechnya", declaring a $20 million bounty on Putin's head. The money is offered to any country, organization or an individual who will assist them in apprehending Putin.

Putin is labeled as a "war criminal" whose crimes allegedly include:

- starting the criminal war against the sovereign state of Chechnya
- organizing mass murder of hundreds thousands of Chechen civilians, incuding several tens of thousands of children.
- creating a torture conveyor under the guise of the so called filtration camps.
- mass kidnappings and extra-judicial executions
- a number of provocations designed to discredit the freedom fighting Chechens, including the blood bath in Beslan.
- creating bandit bands - "Escadrons of Death" who are terrorizing Chechen civilians
- full and/or partial destruction of Chechen cities and towns
- genocide

Ok, very interesting stuff. Most of it is very predictible PR - they are even up to date with the accusation regarding the "blood bath in Beslan". What I, personally, find interesting is the first item on that list:

- starting the criminal war against the sovereign state of Chechnya

This is important, because they are acknowledging the fact that they had independence prior to their attack on Dagestan in 1999. It would be interesting to see how they would justify the invasion of Dagestan (Russia) by the "sovereign state of Chechnya". I've never seen any attempts at a justification, but if someone has a link - please post.

Possible Beslan II prevented in St.Petersburg?

firstbrokenangel,

Parts of..?

Posted by: Stan LS at September 8, 2004 04:56 PM

I can't read Russian - can only go by English. What I'm hearing is that there are 210 burned victims still Unidentified; some may never be identified. From your readings, is this true?
~C

Your number of 1191 is more correct than any media service in the US has for they are contradicting each other on hostages, deaths, injured. I wish they'd stop saying the Russians stormed the school when in fact, they did not do that at all. I know the entire video has not been shown - thank someone for that good news - no one needs to see any of that, anymore than they needed to see the 12 Nepalese workers being beheaded after being shot and killed. One was bad enough, thank you. I wonder in your reading and listening, that little boy in the white shirt, dark pants, hands behind his neck, at the foot of the terrorist whose foot was on a bomb - does anyone know who he is? Did he survive this massacre? Since that part of the video has been played all over many times, has anyone come forward to say who this child was or is? Everytime I close my eyes, I see this child and I feel his fear and terror. I was just wondering if anyone knew of this little boy all dressed up for his first day of school? How could they have planned such an act without the help of someone inside that school? They had to have had help, since much of what they needed was already in the school. How could such planning not be noticed by somebody?? Same question applies to other terrorist attacks, but I'm sorry, the Russians and Putin cannot be blamed for this - only the terrorists - and to answer that other person's question "muslim terrorists."

I cant shake that little guy either. He looks so much like my son's best friend Braeden. Seeing him so afraid and those little hands on his head makes me want to know he is ok. My heart tells me that close to that bomb he didnt stand a chance. :(
I am very grateful for this site, I have been reading about this tragedy and your site offers so much more than regular press. They just dont even seem to care do they? And me, this is all I can think about.

Posted by: Michelle at September 8, 2004 09:28 PM

Me, too,Michelle. His parents must have seen that video, too and he's probably one of the unidentified burned victims but out of all that wretchedness and horror, you can't help but to hope for the best for that little boy. I brought him up because Stan reads Russian Newspapers and was just wondering if a family member made any statement after seeing that video, noting whom he was...out of all the kids there, this one stuck out and unfortunately, he's also stuck in my head. This whole thing has been horrific and so very painful for his parents.

Oh please let me know if that little boy is alive and also Adana Giadiava? I have cried so many times...

Posted by: Ann at September 9, 2004 04:52 AM

Stan did have a list of names of the injured; I believe that may be under Part One. You might check there, Ann, for Adana.

Posted by: firstbrokenangel at September 9, 2004 08:03 AM

the little girl whose mother was made to choose between her and her baby brother, their names were Alan and Alana, that little girl survived. I was SO greatful to read that. Of course, I read it here.
I wrote a letter to the translater on Pravda, asking him to find out about the boy for us. maybe if he is alive, a bunch of us could send donations or something, to try to help a little? If he has died...well..I dont know.

Stan, you know that stuff is really scary. How can plans like this and the one you just stated be in the works for so long without anyone knowing about it? Of course, nobody knew about 9/11 either until it happened and I'm still shell shocked. But you have to figure this kind of planning has long range effects and done at a particular time but still has to be thoughtout carefully. We know that Checknya is affiliated with Usama Bin Laden, Al Qaida, and this is how they work. They want Russia in a war. I'm still reeling from the Beslan School. Sometimes I feel like my mind and my heart can't take much more but these barbarians continue on without thought, without remorse, without any humanity at all; total barbarians are these Muslim terrorists and murderers and we can't call them less than that but people who do these things are not on any level of humanity that I can fathom. How does one justify such actions? It doesn't work. When they did the Olympics, that was like our first introduction to terrorism and even though many of us watched that glued to the set, what is happening now in Russia, in Iraq, there is nothing logical or sane about it at all. How do they find these people to do the bidding and actually laugh when they are so dastardly killing? I find my mind just cannot put it together anymore. There is no rhyme or reason, nothing gained that's for sure and certainly no pity or sympathy for these atrocious actions. This thing with children.....my gawd, what kind of soulless people are we dealing with here? The worst scum of society. Gad!

FirstbrokenAngel -You are most welcome. I have been stunned for last week over this whole thing -pictures, news, funerals and victim accounts are absoluteley heartbreaking.

Believe this charity has been listed elsewhere but in case it's unknown to others here is link

http://www.moscowhelp.org/donations.htm

They appear to be legitimate and claim ALL funds go to Beslan terror victims and families. First distributed funds to Moscow Theatre victims 2 years ago and have a track record - Also mentioned in MSM articles

"Small correction. The woman who came back to the school carried out her own child (not someone else's as was reported prior). She went back to stay with her remaining children."

Does anyone know if she and her other children survived? I can't get her out of my mind.

The woman in the red dress??

Hope not.

~C

Posted by: firstbrokenangel at September 10, 2004 05:53 PM

Yes, the red dress. I presume that you mean that you hope that she and her children did survived?

--A

Posted by: Audrey Weiss at September 11, 2004 03:05 PM

What I obviously meant was I hope the dead woman in the red dress is not the person they are asking about here.....very easy to understand.

Posted by: firstbrokenangel at September 11, 2004 11:31 PM

and I wished all of them had survived; they were lucky the terrorist group screwed up, more than half survived. I call that a plus in such a horrific event. But if terrorism gets wiped out, these extreme islamists get wiped out, then these things would not happen. What kind of human being does these things? I still can't get my mind around this or around 9/11. It's like being shell-shocked permanently. I say wipe out these muslim terrorists before they do this world any more harm.

Posted by: firstbrokenangel at September 12, 2004 01:21 PM

There were reports today from the people at Beslan that they believe the number of dead is as high as 600. There was one guy at the new cemetery they had to build who lost his wife and children in the terrorist siege. Just some sort of update. The mothers, dressed in black, are starting to get angry, which is the step after grief and they are letting the world know they are angry which they have every right to feel and do. It's going to be a very difficult time for them, but these women will be heard.

I mean easy to understand or obvious oops

Posted by: Ann at September 13, 2004 03:23 AM

Does anyone know how to translate a Russsian webpage to English? I would like to read the russina news online, get their version of things. I also would like to be able to read some first hand events of the siege etc... So many different stories etc out there. My main concern is for the families of those who are missing. I know that some are those bodies still unidentified in the morgue. But the numbers dont seem to add up. Plus people saying they knew someone got out but cant be found now. They even have pictures of children being carried out of the building but now they can't locate the children. The Russian goverment has GOT to get this thing coordinated. Its too much to ask of these familys.

Posted by: Kim at September 13, 2004 12:24 PM

First of all, I want to say thank you to Stan who was the most informative source of information I had been able to find. I followed his logs when we information on CNN and local news was vague and generalized. Something that I never did understand, though: I had seen many, many pictures of children who were taken from the school in various states of undress. Did anyone ever say why they were in these states?

Posted by: Heather at September 13, 2004 10:55 PM

It was stifling hot in the gym and the children were not allowed to use the restroom or drink water. Some of the children were fainting from heat so the parents etc.. had them remove clothing to cool down. It sickens me. It truly breaks my heart. And one of the things that really bothers me the most is that I have at times tried to see the "other side". Tried to find some reason for the things these people do. Screw that. I don't care if they are opressed or whatever wrong they think has been done against them.... Nothing justifies this. Nothing. It's not enough that they had to kill them, but they terrorized these children. They were animals. I keep reading that they kept telling the toddlers and crying children to shutup and they kept shooting into the roof to try to accomplish it. Yeah that will work. Stupid monsters. Evil monsters.

Anderson Cooper on CNN just had a bit on a mother who was allowed to choose one of her children to leave the Beslan School. She took out the baby brother and returned to the school gym with her daughter. She says that when the bombs went off )terrorist errors) her daughter must have gotten up and started running for when they found her body, he had a bullet in the back of her neck. I believe she had to make the most gawdawful choice, left the school with her baby and had to leave behind her older daughter. As those kids ran during the bombs exploding, her daughter was found with a bullet in her neck, dead, shot from behind. I know that's not the mother you were asking about, at least I'm not sure it is but could be, her daughter did not survive. The mother and baby did - they came out with that group of 26. We've read what they did to the babies but this woman says she goes to the cemetery every day and prays to her daughter to forgive her for leaving her behind; why don't you come to me in my dreams so I know you have forgiven me? These people are going to suffer some very long term psychological pain for the rest of their lives. I do not know if this is the same mother because I believe that other mother returned to the school gym. Since the piece was so short, it was hard to tell if they were talking about the same mother. I'm sorry I do not know the answers.
